Hey mama!

I'm Nikki, lover of Christmas, golden retrievers, and helping others with health and wellness. I grew up in the Pacific Northwest and began a lifelong love of sports and exercise at 4 years old. After graduating high school, I attended Azusa Pacific University where I ran track and field (where are my fellow hurdlers at?!) and graduated with my Bachelor's in Psychology.

A few years later I completed my Doctorate of Physcial Therapy (DPT) at Azusa Pacific University. During my time as a DPT student I also got married to my husband and we began our journey as a military family which has taken us to 3 different states now.

Though not required for physical therapists, I opted to complete a residency program in orthopedics which then allowed me to test for a board certification in that speciality. In 2018 I became a board certified Orthopedic Clinical Specialist (OCS) and shortly before taking the exam I also became a mama.

Savoring Motherhood

Before college I knew that I wanted a career in something that helped people. It wasn't until my sophomore year in college after my own experience as a physical therapy patient, that I realized physical therapy was how I wanted to help others. I was captviated by being able to help people with their health and THEIR personal goals. Whether that was being able to return to sport or to walk their dog without back pain.

As I began my own journey through motherhood I felt led to encourage other mamas in their journey. I think in today's world motherhood has bad rap. You're supposedly resigned to misery and no sleep for the rest of your life when you become a mom. While there is definitely less sleep involved, there is SO much more good than bad and I wanted to help other mamas see that too. Savoring Motherhood was born out of that desire to help others truly cherish this gift of being a mama.

Savoring Postpartum

Over time I realized that my knowledge of physical therapy could be helpful for mamas too! As this community of mamas I built began to share things they struggled with physically, I wanted to help. I truly believe your health is essential to thrive in your role as a mama. In 2022 as I entered postpartum for the third time, I began to dream up a course that would help moms rehabilitate and return to their prior level of function before baby. Although it has taken almost 2 years to complete, I am SO excited to be launching Savoring Postpartum: The Ultimate Strength & Rehabilitation Guide for the Postpartum Mama as we end 2023 and cannot wait to see how many mamas it is going to help!
